Getting Started (Home/Lab)¶
This tutorial gets a first t1n1wall system online with WAN/LAN and Web UI access.
Prerequisites¶
- A target machine or VM with at least two network interfaces
- One image file (
.imgor.iso) - Console access (local, serial, or VM console)
Step 1: Install and boot¶
Follow Install Images to write media and boot.
Step 2: Assign interfaces¶
At console setup:
- Assign WAN to upstream network
- Assign LAN to internal network
- Confirm LAN IP/subnet
Step 3: Open Web UI¶
- Connect a client to LAN
- Browse to the LAN address shown on console
- Sign in and change defaults
Step 4: Validate connectivity¶
- LAN client gets DHCP lease
- LAN client can reach Internet
- DNS resolves correctly
Step 5: Apply a minimal baseline¶
- Review firewall default policy
- Configure admin password and backup config
- Confirm time/NTP and hostname
Troubleshooting¶
If Web UI is unreachable:
- Re-check interface assignment order
- Verify client is on LAN subnet
- Verify no duplicate IP with upstream router
